Breaking barriers between Cree patients and non-aboriginal doctors

A new partnership between the CSSS des Premières Nations du Québec et Labrador, Native friendship centres and Quebec medical schools is allowing medical students from McGill and Université de Montréal to live and work in Native communities across the province for four week periods. The students are there to gain an enhanced understanding of aboriginal culture as it relates to medical practice.

Douglas Institute meets with its partners in Nunavik

Lynne McVey, Executive Director of the Douglas Institute, and Charles-Edouard Carrier, Co-Director of the RUIS McGill Great North Mental Health Program, visited Kuujjuaq on June 17 and 18 to meet with their Nunavik mental health partners. The visit coincided with the 20th annual meeting of the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (RRSSSN), which they also attended.
