The methods for the preparation and writing of grant applications vary from one funding agency to another. However, there are some common features of effective grant writing that will optimize the chances of being funded. The following resources are given to provide researchers with strategies for successful grant writing.
GRANTSMANSHIP SESSIONS
The Research Grants Office organizes annual grantsmanship sessions in which McGill researchers provide "behind the scenes" information about the peer review committee process and activities based on their experience as members of grant review committees. The goal of these sessions is to provide helpful tips and "tricks of the trade" to researchers to enhance the quality of applications to major granting agencies. Videotaped presentations from the 2004, 2005, and 2006 & audio (2007) presentations from the Grantsmanship Meetings are available here. To view the sessions, please click on a session and enter firstname.lastname@mcgill.ca & your DAS password.
Please contact the Research Grants Office at info.rgo@mcgill.ca for information regarding the Grantsmanship 2008 held in June 2008.
