REZ Voice and Data Information

McGill NCS offers telecommunication services to students living in McGill Residences and selected Graduate Housing buildings. Students can opt for telephone and long distance service, and high-speed data connections.

Note that these telecommunications services are not included in the Residence room fees.

Sign up with us and enjoy our REZ Voice and Data Service for your entire stay at REZ. All this without any installation or repair fees!

PRICE LIST: 2013-2014

The McGill REZ Voice and Data Service is pleased to present the 2013-2014 pricing plan. The 2013-2014 prices are for two semesters and include all applicable taxes:

Voice Service comes with our long distance plan.

Data Service comes with both wired and wireless connectivity in all McGill Residences and MORE buildings, exclusively for REZ Voice and Data Service subscribers!

SHUTDOWN OF REZ VOICE AND DATA

Please be advised that it's time to start thinking about the termination of your REZ Voice and Data Service.

REZ Voice and Data Service, including phone lines, high-speed data links and wireless access, will be disconnected for the summer on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 12 noon.

Green or blue patch cords are to remain in your room when you leave. The long (15 feet) grey patch cords should be returned to McGill IT Customer Services in Room 285 at 688 Sherbrooke Street West.  The $10 deposit you previously paid for the long patch cord will be refunded in full upon its return.

All requests for service throughout the summer months must be received before Monday, April 29, 2013 at 4 pm. Service is only available for the entire four-month period (May to August), which will be treated as a full semester.

Long distance charges for the period of March 16, 2013 to April 15, 2013 (where applicable) will appear on your Student Account sometime over the summer.

DATA SERVICE INTERRUPTION @ La Citadelle

Please note there will be a 15-minute interruption in REZ wireless service at La Citadelle tomorrow—Friday, September 14, 2012—sometime between 7:15 AM and 7:45 AM, in order for some maintenance work to be completed.

COMPLIMENTARY DATA SERVICE: Shut down

For those who have not signed up for REZ Data Service, wireless access to the REZ network has been disabled, and wired access is being disconnected.

You can still REGISTER YOUR ROOM to sign up for REZ Voice and Data Service, but there may be a delay in re-establishing connectivity to the REZ network: up to two hours for wireless access and up to two business days for wired access.

COMPLIMENTARY DATA SERVICE: Only one day left!

Avoid being cut off and REGISTER YOUR ROOM before Tuesday, September 11, 2012! Then your high-speed data connection will continue work uninterrupted for your entire stay at McGill.

If you do not REGISTER YOUR ROOM after September 11, your service will be cut off—then you will then have to apply for service in person and wait a few days to get re-connected.

COMPLIMENTARY DATA SERVICE: Final week to REGISTER YOUR ROOM!

How can you avoid being cut off? Just REGISTER YOUR ROOM. Do it before Tuesday, September 11, 2012 and your high-speed data connection will continue work uninterrupted for your entire stay at McGill.

You were planning to sign up for service after September 11, 2012? If you do not REGISTER YOUR ROOM before then, your service will be cut off. You will then have to see us in person to apply for service and get re-connected (in a few days).

So avoid the hassle of getting cut off and waiting to get re-connected! Just REGISTER YOUR ROOM instead!

WIRELESS-ONLY PILOT PROJECT @ La Citadelle

Students signing up for REZ Data Service in La Citadelle will only have wireless access to their exclusive REZ network. There will be a LAN jack in the wall, but it will not be activated.

La Citadelle has been configured for wireless data service only. We are testing a new exceptionally high-speed wireless technology (802.11n) that provides speeds that are four times faster than the wireless currently in other residence buildings—in other words, speeds that are the same as, if not faster than, wired LAN connections.

Students may sign up for REZ Voice and Data Service using the automated REGISTER YOUR ROOM process.

McGill NCS is pleased to offer complimentary data service. Each and every residence room in your building has wireless access and a working high-speed data jack into which you can plug your computer and start surfing the Internet. Voice service is available through the REGISTER YOUR ROOM process.

Complimentary service ends on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Please sign up before this date if you do not wish to have your service interrupted!
