WELCOME TO MCGILL UNIVERSITY RESIDENCES!

A Word from our Executive Director


On behalf of all in Residences and Student Housing, welcome to what will be an experience that results in fond memories, lots of friends, a plethora of learning experiences and academic success. As you embark on the adventure of living with a few hundred people under one roof, please keep a few things in mind:
  1. You are not alone. Your Floor Fellow/Don, your Hall Director and the rest of the Residences team are here for you. Be an active member of your new community and take best advantage of all residence has to offer.
  2. Residences operates under one overarching principle – RESPECT. This includes respect for yourself, the rights of others, the community as a whole, safety and security, the facilities, the staff and the University. The lease itself covers several specific rules and regulations. If everyone is trying to live under a common understanding of respect, the year will be a successful one.

    Living in residence can be one of the great learning experiences of a lifetime. Rarely will you have the chance to live and learn with people from every possible walk of life in this world. Take full advantage of the chance to learn and help others learn about you. If we all do that together, this year will be truly special.

    Residences and Student Housing offices are located at University Hall Residence (formerly the Diocesan College) at 3473 University Street. Please visit us from 9am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

    Each year McGill welcomes 2,700 undergraduate and 200 graduate students to our dorms, apartments and shared-facilities houses.

    In the summer, our residences are open to visitors looking for reasonably-priced accommodations in downtown Montreal.



    Undergraduate Residences

    Most of our residents are first-year undergraduate students, although a small number of upper-year students return each year as student leaders. Click here fore more information about Undergraduate Residences.

    Summer Accommodations at McGill

    Summer accommodations to suit every price range are available from mid-May to mid-August. Stay in air-conditioned luxury and take advantage of the full conference facilities at the New Residence Hall (formerly the Hotel du Parc) or enjoy inexpensive accommodation in our dormitory-style residences just steps from beautiful Mount-Royal Park and Montreal's lively downtown.
