Social Sciences and Humanities Development Grants Program
The Social Sciences and Humanities Development grant program allocates SSHRC funds to selected members of McGill’s full-time academic staff. In accordance with SSHRC’s mandate, the proposed research project must be primarily in the social sciences or humanities, and the intended outcome of the research must primarily be to add to our understanding and knowledge of individuals, groups and societies.
The purpose of the Development Grant is to provide seed funding for the following types of specific support to Faculty members:
- Short-term support for early-stage research that will enhance the development of proposals to external funding agencies for multi-year research support.
Examples of grant programs offering the type of multi-year research support which is intended under the above provision are SSHRC Insight and Insight Development Grants and FRQSC Établissement de nouveaux professeurs-chercheurs and Établissement de nouveaux professeurs-chercheurs-créateurs grants.
- Support for new scholars (as defined by SSHRC) to help launch new research programs.
