Advancing research across McGill
Research and International Relations (RIR) is responsible for the promotion and advancement of research across McGill and serves the research community in a variety of ways. Specifically, RIR directs the University’s overall institutional research mandate, manages the support services framework for research initiatives, and oversees outreach to key international institutions.
In addition, RIR supervises the administration of research centres and institutes, institutional animal care, special projects related to research and innovation, and strategic research development across the University.
Throughout the RIR portfolio, particular emphasis is placed on the cultivation, development and support of interdisciplinary research initiatives and innovation.
RIR, through its Office of Sponsored Research, also provides advice, assistance and risk mitigation relating to sponsored research, grants and contracts for research. Additional key activities include: intellectual property management, ethics and compliance assistance and requirements, research-related data management, certifications, and the development of strategic grant proposals.
