Come explore the hidden gems and secret places on the websites of McGill University and its affiliated institutions.
A stunning visual collection of Canadian war posters from the First and Second World Wars, produced by McGill Library’s Rare Books and Special Collections Division.
Even if you’re a committed pacifist, this site is worth your time from a purely artistic and aesthetic point of view. It offers a well-researched historical overview of the war poster as an art form, plus an artist index and a searchable gallery of over 250 posters. You can even order full-colour reprints of posters you like right on the site.
Like the rest of the McGill Library network, the Marvin Duchow Music Library has a spectacular collection of online resources for music lovers. If you log in on a McGill computer (or on a remote computer running the McGill VPN) you have full access to audio collections like Naxos Music Online, the Classical Music Library and the Database of Recorded American Music. There are also over a dozen online collections of sheet music, full online access to a similar number of major music reference works like the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Music and the Encyclopedia of Music in Canada, plus access to ejournals, music databases and subject guides.
