Redpath Museum: Booking Request Form
Please note that we will check on the availability of the room and get back to you as soon as possible. This form does not send a request for porter and security services.
We encourage as many groups as possible to use this unique institution and to view its beautiful Victorian architecture and its exhibits.
Two locations in the museum can be booked: the auditorium and the entrance hall. Here is some background information to make your arrangements go more smoothly.
Please fill out the Booking Request Form at the bottom of this page once you have read the following information.
Booking a room
Academic Bookings (scheduled classes) for the auditorium and teaching lab (Room 106) take precedence over all other bookings, with priority for the Auditorium given to courses that require video-conferencing. Academic bookings are arranged by the Faculty of Science through Janet Martone at local 00643.
Those from the Redpath Museum, Dean of Science and Science Development Office, Biology Department and McGill School of the Environment should contact Marie LaRicca, the Administrative Officer, at local 3188.
All other groups must contact Debbie Yacoulis
Requests to serve alcoholic beverages at events must be made through this form (for McGill organizations) or by contacting Debbie Yacoulis (non-McGill organizations).
Booking after 5 pm and on weekends
A group that uses the Museum outside regular hours (after 5 pm on working days, or on weekends or holidays) is responsible for paying for porter and security services. These are both required by University regulations. It is your responsibility to provide a FOAPAL when making your booking.
Rates:
| Porter: | 48$ per hour Minimum charge: 3 hours |
| Security guard: | McGill organizations: $26.40 per hour Non-McGill organizations: $33. per hour Minimum charge: 4 hours. These rates will be increased if the event requires the agents to work overtime or during a holiday. Please note that there is a 30-minute surcharge added to every request: this accounts for travel time between the Security office and the work site (round-trip). A 60-minute surcharge applies to more distant locations off campus. The surcharge does not apply if the total billing is four (4) hours or less. |
Porter: Please make sure that you ask the porter to clean the room you are using after the event. If this is not done, we may call in a cleaning crew and send you the bill.
Please contact Marie LaRicca, the Museum's Administrative Officer, at extension 3188 for information on booking a porter for your event.
Security: Please contact Marie LaRicca, the Museum's Administrative Officer, at extension 3188 for information on booking a security agent for your event
Audio Visual
Audiovisual requirements such as microphones can be obtained from IT Customer Services (ICS) at local 8833. Unfortunately, the Museum cannot be responsible for collecting, receiving or safeguarding your equipment. For technical assistance and any instruction in the use of the equipment in the Auditorium, please call 8833.
Catering Services
Someone from your department must be at the Museum to receive food, drink and catering supplies. We cannot take responsibility for this. Anything left over should be cleared and picked up as soon as possible.
Tables & other furniture
Any furniture that is moved must be placed back in its original location. For any other requirement such as tables or chairs, please call Debbie Yacoulis at Special Events (local 5433).
N.B. Please return all tables to their original locations and close all windows that may have been opened during your event.
Fees
In some cases, you may be charged a fee for the use of the Museum. This fee is not levied by the Museum, nor do we receive any benefit from it. We are not able to alter it.
Capacity
Auditorium: maximum 120 (100 for comfort). After hours, the entrance hall can be used for a reception, but note that the space is narrow.
Entrance Hall: if you are booking the entrance hall only, the maximum capacity is 50. Note that the entrance hall is also the museum's main entrance and, therefore, used by visitors (including school groups) during the museum's opening hours.
