Cutting Edge Lecture in Science
By Margaret Kalacska (Geography, McGill)
Dr. Kalacska's main research interests include ecological and forensic applications of remote or Hyperspectral imaging which collects and processes information from across the electromagnetic spectrum. Much as the human eye sees visible light in three bands (red, green, and blue), spectral imaging divides the spectrum into many more bands. This technique of dividing images into bands can be extended beyond the visible. Dr. Kalacska specializes in data analysis, machine learning such as pattern recognition, Bayesian Networks, classification; along with spatial modeling and tropical ecology.
