In an attempt to make some changes that would support rapid achievement of goals within the context of the long term mandate, the RCN has embarked on a process that would re-focus people, processes and governance to optimise outcome achievement. The RCN team has been working through details that will further develop the plan and associated approaches to maximise outcome achievement and optimising the long term vision.
Context & Congruency
The first step was to make sure that we were operating within the appropriate set of enablers that could help drive our efforts and keep our focus on achieving outcomes, including:
- The RCN Gift Agreement
- Recommendations from the International Advisory Committee
- Our most updated Project Plan
- Les orientations de la direction Québécoise de cancérologie
- Le plan régional en cancérologie
- Best practices in the global cancer care community
Our Goals
The RCN has defined a clear mandate in which to focus our efforts and investments:
- Shared strategic goals for delivering high-quality care
- Strong inter-organizational governance
- Strong clinical leadership structures to deliver clinical excellence
- Invest in platforms (like IT systems) to support performance improvement
- Become a centre of excellence in Quebec, Canada, and the world
Implications of Our Mandate
These preceding factors contribute to a clear sense of focus for the RCN as we evolve in the following areas:
- Optimising performance
- Harmonising and integrating practices
- Continued focus on the patient
- Effective execution with an emphasis on capturing the benefits
- Engagement and collaboration with patients, clinicians, and administration
Structure Moving Forward
In order to optimise our efforts, The RCN is moving forward with an re-aligned structure that embraces all the efforts of its partners and leverages all the work done to date with a focus on four (4) key elements:
- Patient at the centre
- Improving performance
- Harmonising activities
- Rigorous processes
We believe this re-alignment will open up even greater opportunities for the RCN to do its part in improving cancer care in Quebec and position it to work toward its long term vision of delivering world class cancer care across the MAHN hospitals.
