Research Seminar: Outcome of Childhood ADHD over a 33 year Span & How Does DSM-5 Change the Pediatric Landscape

The Child Psychiatry Research Committee is sponsoring a Child Psychiatry Research Seminar. This seminar is open to all staff and students. The seminar will be informal and encourage active audience participation and discussion.

“Outcome of Childhood ADHD over a 33 year Span & How Does DSM-5 Change the Pediatric Landscape?”

Objectives: After taking part in the program, participants will be able to:
Appreciate the impairment associated with childhood ADHD. Know the literature that informs on the course of the disorder.
Learn the specific aspects of dysfunction that occur in adulthood among individuals diagnosed with ADHD in childhood.
Identify some of the long-term effects of early exposure to stimulant treatment.

DSM-V Recognize the changes made in the classification of childhood psychiatric disorders.
Learn the rationale for the changes. Understand the clinical implications of the diagnostic changes.
