Marwa Kaffel

Marwa Kaffel completed high school at Collège Laval before completing her first year of college studies at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in the Health Sciences program.

Fascinated by psychology and biology, especially by the human body, its functioning and its development, this ambitious student aspires to become a doctor and do research.

In addition to being a math tutor and member of the Ecology Committee at Brébeuf, Marwa volunteers at the Jewish General Hospital. Through her participation in various chemistry, biology and mathematics competitions, she demonstrates a strong interest in science.

The latter earned her the honour of obtaining a scientific internship at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, under the supervision of Drs. David P. Laplante and Suzanne King.

During the summer of 2016, this curious young student will have the opportunity to participate in two longitudinal studies on maternal prenatal stress, the Project Ice Storm (1998) and the Queensland Flood Study (2011).

This internship will give her the opportunity to explore her interests, broaden her knowledge, and gain experience in research, thus allowing her to confirm her future career orientation.

Aside from her interest in science, Marwa is passionate about drawing, and has a penchant for writing. Besides spending time with her friends and family, she likes to stay active by swimming, skating and/or playing volleyball.
