General Pediatrics Fellowships

Academic Pediatrics Fellowship

The Pediatrics Residency Program of McGill University offers advanced training for pediatric residents who aim to pursue an academic career in general pediatrics. The Academic Pediatrics Fellowship Program is a one year program designed for the candidate wishing to practice along the model of a "hospitalist" in a university-based environment. The educational experiences include clinical training, medical education, administration, and research opportunities.

Candidates to the program are required to have completed a fourth year of training in general pediatrics, which will have been preferably tailored to the candidate's further training plans in Academic Pediatrics. In addition, candidates are expected to have initiated an academic project, which will be completed in this program.

Social Pediatrics Fellowship

The Department of Pediatrics at McGill University offers advanced pediatric training for senior pediatric trainees who choose to develop a career in Social Pediatrics.

This 12 month fellowship is intended for candidates wishing to develop the medical expertise and skills to engage, collaborate and help empower socially vulnerable populations, and to act as champions of positive change for the health of these populations.

The educational experiences include clinical training, medical education, advocacy, administration and research opportunities.

Our program is intended to offer the necessary flexibility to tailor clinical and academic training to each senior resident's future practice and career goals.

Neonatal Follow-up Fellowship

Fellowship Length: 1 year

The program, based at the Montreal Children's Hospital, is designed for physicians who wish to develop clinical expertise in the field of medical and developmental follow-up of high-risk neonates. The program consists of training in clinical, neurodevelopmental evaluations, family support, interdisciplinary approach to care of infants and toddlers with complex medical problems. Extensive experience with multidisciplinary partners (rehabilitation, specialised developmental disabilities programs) is provided. A short clinical research project or systematic review is completed during the academic year.

Candidates to this program are required to have completed training in the General Pediatrics Residency Program (4 year program), or a residency program in Neonatology (5 year program), as well as meet eligibility requirements of McGill University.

Clinical Complex Care Fellowship

The Pediatrics Residency Program of McGill University offers advanced training for Pediatric Residents who aim to pursue a clinical career in general pediatrics. The Clinical Complex Care Fellowship is designed for the candidate wishing to develop expertise in the care of children with complex care needs. The educational experiences focus on clinical training, and also include medical education, administration and research opportunities.

Candidates to this program are required to have competed a fourth year of training in general pediatrics and to meet eligibility requirements of McGill University.
