This in-service workshop will focus on these talents and skills, as well as on the importance of the partnership between the cooperating teacher and the university supervisor in providing students with critical and timely feedback embedded within the framework of the professional competencies. The interaction between cooperating teachers and university supervisors is fundamental in meeting the core objective of teacher education programs which is to prepare able and competent future teachers for entry into the profession.
The morning session of this professional development workshop will identify and examine those leadership and communication skills that scaffold the highly nuanced work of cooperating teachers and university supervisors. An interactive format will encourage discussion and enable hands-on practice in the use of these skills in support of the effective development of student teachers’ professional competencies. The afternoon session will focus on the skilful use of the forms that have been developed by each university to capture and report your assessments of the student teachers you observe in your classrooms.
