Reproductive endocrinology and infertility
Our REI division consists of world leaders in their respective fields. The division established the first REI fellowship program in Canada in 1976. It remains today the only program that is approved by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (United Kingdom), and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
A crucial component of the division, the MUHC Reproductive Centre (MRC) is the only public centre in Quebec for assisted reproductive technology (ART) and the largest in Canada. The MRC is renowned for advances in various fertility treatment including in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and is a pioneer in in-vitro maturation (IVM). It is also considered a leader in fertility preservation for young women undergoing chemotherapy and in minimally invasive surgery (endoscopy).
REI patient care, teaching and research occur at two McGill sites:
- McGill University Health Centre - Royal Victoria Hospital
- Lakeshore Hospital (satellite clinic - patient care only)
