See http://www.mcgill.ca/firstyear/undergrad-students/week for the online orientation week schedule.
Discover McGill begins on Tuesday, August 27 at 9:00 a.m. Consult the Discover McGill schedule to see where you need to be.
Student Life Ambassador Program: McGill’s First-Year Office runs a Student Life Ambassador Program for new Canadian students (International Students see www.mcgill.ca/internationalstudents/pre-arrival/buddy-program for more information).
This program will pair you with an experienced senior student from your faculty to correspond with you throughout the summer. Student Life Ambassadors help new students prepare for McGill’s academic and social life. Visit the Student Life Ambassador Program website to participate in this program.
Workshops to prepare you for study at McGill: Are you curious about the academic expectations McGill has of you? If so, plan to attend "Discover McGill’s Academic Expectations" on August 28 (Downtown Campus).
This session is also available at Macdonald Campus.
The day includes a series of workshops to help ensure a strong start to your university career. Space is limited and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
For the schedule, workshop descriptions and registration visit www.mcgill.ca/firstyear/undergrad-students/week.
Frosh activities: McGill students want to make you feel at home here, too. Faculty undergraduate societies and the Students’ Society of McGill University (SSMU) organize several days of Frosh activities during Orientation Week, giving first-year students a chance to meet, get to know the McGill community and, most importantly, have fun.
For more information on Frosh or any other SSMU activities, visit the SSMU website and watch for your invitation to Frosh events in the mail.
The Macdonald Campus Frosh schedule will be posted on the Macdonald Campus Students’ Society
(MCSS) website.
Transfer students:Transfer students should be sure to take advantage of an information session designed specifically for them. Representatives from the First-Year Office, other Student Services and the Students’ Society of McGill will discuss the support services available to transfer students and address questions or concerns. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet other new transfer students. Refer to the Orientation website for information and online registration.
Francophone students:You are invited to attend a welcome session highlighting useful information for francophone students. For more information, visit Étudiants francophones or call the First-Year Office.
Mature Students:Have you been in the working world before returning to university? Are you 23 or older? The First-Year Office and the Mature and Re-entry Students’ Association offer academic and study skills workshops to help you adjust to the demands of university.
Plan to attend a free, two-day workshop on August 22 and 23 that will provide techniques to improve reading efficiency, note-taking skills, and writing of papers, as well as preparation for exams. You’ll also get to meet other mature/re-entry students.
Go to Mature and re-entry students for details and online registration.
