Music students must register for MUPD 135 and MUPD 136 during their first year of study.
The normal course load for the Schulich School of Music is 15 to 18 credits per term.
Placement examinations in Music History, Theory, Musicianship and Keyboard Proficiency will be held on (Date to be determined).
For detailed information, consult the placement examination schedule at www.mcgill.ca/music/current-students/undergraduate/newly-admitted/placement-exams.
Students admitted to the LMus and Artist Diploma programs who have been granted a BMus degree or equivalent within the past three years are exempt from music history, theory, musicianship and keyboard proficiency course requirements, and do not have to sit placement/advanced standing exams.

At the advising session, you will be given your placement examination results and a degree audit form. Advisers will meet with new students as a group and give program-specific advice. Advisers will then meet with students individually.
Music students must consult the Ensemble Audition Schedule available at www.mcgill.ca/music/current-students/undergraduate/all-students/ensembles/.
