Quebecers are increasingly going to extremes - sports, that is - to get their adrenalin fix…

"Our world is so much more stressful now," Gordon Bloom said. "People worry about financial meltdowns, terrorism, war, cyber-bullying. They just want to get away and so they look for different ways to escape and release that stress."

Bloom is an associate professor of sports psychology at McGill University and is lab director and head coach at McGill's Sport Psychology Research Laboratory. "We're hearing more about the importance of physical activity now, and, at the same time, the definition of traditional sports is shifting," Bloom said.
