Is it healthier to live in Montréal-Nord than Westmount or Saint-Laurent? Maybe. Atmospheric pollution pays no heed to neighbourhood or social class, according to one of the largest studies of its kind in Montreal. Of course, pollution alone does not determine the quality of life in a neighbourhood. However, Dan Crouse, [doctoral candidate in Geography] at McGill, determined that in spite of its relative poverty on other counts, Montréal-Nord enjoys one of the lowest atmospheric pollution counts on the Island of Montreal. Far from downtown and expressways, protected by the Rivière des Prairies, this borough stands out.
