Salmon and shrimp dish wins Iron Chef McGill competition
By McGill Reporter Staff
On Feb. 23, over one hundred hungry supporters rallied, cheering on competing Rez hall students during the second annual Iron Chef Competition organized by McGill Food and Dining Services and Rez Life. The competition pits student cooks living in residence against each other in the kitchen. The points earned in this competition go toward the year-long Rez Warz’s Residence Cup.
No second flood, City of Montreal says
Contrary to some media reports, the City of Montreal has told us that there is no second flood from a large water main under the corner of University St. and Pine Ave. There is, and has been since yesterday afternoon, a smaller leak from a second pipe near the site of the original break in the 48-inch water main that caused so much damage yesterday.
We continue to have water flowing on to the campus from this second leak, which is being joined on the roadway in front of the Wong and Rutherford buildings by water being pumped from flooded buildings.
URGENT: Severe traffic restrictions due to downtown flooding
UPDATE: 6:06 pm
The City of Montreal has told us they hope to have the flow of water shut off within the hour.
For the moment, the flooded area extends from Dr. Penfield Ave. to Ste. Catherine St. and from University St. to Peel St. Traffic has been severely restricted in that area.
We would like to remind you to please use extreme caution in making your way around the campus or in trying to leave the area. It is slippery underfoot and water continues to flow forcefully along several roadways on campus.
