Pfister rocks, Martlets roll to perfect score at cross-country meet in Sherbrooke

Caroline Pfister finished first of 98 entries as the No.5-ranked McGill women’s cross-country running team captured the Vert & Or Open meet in Sherbrooke on Saturday.
It was the second victory in three meets for the McGill women, who posted a perfect score of 15 points, sweeping the top five spots in the four-kilometre race held at the Andre Nadeau nature park. The host Sherbrooke squad finished a distant second of eight teams with 71 points.
Conzon to the rescue as No.5-ranked soccer Martlets knocks No.1-Carabins off lofty perch
Julia Conzon, a freshman midfielder from North Vancouver, B.C., snapped a 1-1 tie in the 63rd minute to give No.5-ranked McGill a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the No.1-ranked Montreal Carabins in CIS women’s soccer before a “Pack the Pitch” crowd of 714 at Percival Molson Stadium, Thursday.
In men’s play, the Carabins blanked McGill 2-0.
QB Bondy leads football Redmen past visiting Mounties

Quarterback Ryne Bondy of Richmond Hill, Ont., passed for three touchdowns and ran for another as McGill knocked the monkey off their backs with a lopsided 36-9 victory over the visiting Mt. Allison Mounties before 2,187 at Molson Stadium, Friday.
Wright becomes fifth Redmen hockey player this year to sign pro pact

Andrew Wright, who assisted on the winning goal when McGill claimed their first-ever CIS national championship in men’s hockey last March, has signed a contract to play for the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League.
The 22-year-old native of Toronto becomes the fifth member of the Redmen to ink a pro pact since last spring. During his four seasons with McGill, the 6-foot-2, 186-pound forward scored 160 points, including 53 goals, in 162 games overall.
Expanded Fitness Centre ready for action
New mezzanine level will free up space on crowded main floor

The Fitness Centre in the McGill Sports Complex has now reopened after undergoing an extensive renovation this past spring and summer.
Closed since mid-April, the Centre opened its doors this past weekend after a more than 2000-square-foot mezzanine was added above the popular and often overcrowded main room used by McGill students and staff to work out.

There are many new faces on the McGill football Redmen as the team prepares to kick off its 132nd season on Sunday against powerhouse Laval in Quebec City.
Heading into his first full season as Redmen bench boss, head coach Clint Uttley is hopeful that a roster that includes 50 returning players and about 40 new recruits, as well as a revamped coaching staff will help the team bounce back after two consecutive 0-9 seasons.
