Stories of Inspiration

For the past 80 years, the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital has combined the latest research with clinical care to offer patients suffering from neurological disorders the most advanced and effective treatments. Throughout the history of the institute, thousands of patients have seen their life changed under The Neuro's care and sometimes, these patients share with us their touching experience.

We believe that talking and sharing stories help us deal with tough issues in life such as aggressive brain tumours and the hard reality that the people we love are not immune to neurological diseases. Few of us will actually get through our lives without a brain-related disease or at least knowing someone who has been afflicted with one, whether it’s a tumour, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or a stroke-induced loss of the use of a limb.

That may sound a little grim but of course, hope always triumphs over darkness at The Neuro. The fact is, we are making so much progress here and your donations make it all happen. We can now track genes that cause some of these diseases. We’re closer to understand autism and multiple sclerosis. Patients with aggressive brain tumours are living longer lives because of new treatments. Just ask any of the people who shared their story with us, what a difference The Neuro has made to their lives.

We will post a patient’s story on this page for all to read. We hope that these shared moments will help you find courage in times of need and will inspire you to share your incredible tale with all of us as well.
