Woodwind Area

About
Woodwind majors at McGill benefit from a complete and carefully structured curriculum. Faculty includes most of the principals of the brilliant Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and other internationally acclaimed artists. First-rate ensemble experience in the Orchestral Training Program includes performing opportunities with the McGill Symphony Orchestra, Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the Wind Symphony. Smaller ensembles such as wind quintets, saxophone ensembles, and other chamber music groups complete a thorough ensemble program intended to prepare students for professional careers.
In addition to private lessons, weekly Woodwind Seminar, and guest master classes, woodwind majors also receive instruction in orchestral repertoire classes, providing the invaluable experience and knowledge of the symphonic repertoire that allow McGill graduates to consistently win major awards and scholarships as well as important auditions for the best orchestras in Canada, the USA, and abroad.
