Two-time Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Bill Charlap and his wife, acclaimed, four-time Juno award winning jazz pianist Renee Rosnes come together to perform timeless jazz selections. Distinguished guests of the Catherine Thornhill Steele Chair, both pianists have been praised for representing the upper echelon of contemporary jazz piano aesthetics. Together the uniquely beautiful duo will ignite the stage!

Messiaen: Turangalîla Symphonie

A co-production of MNM and the Schulich School of Music, presented as a part of festival Montréal/Nouvelles Musiques 

The Turangalîla-Symphonie is part of a trilogy inspired by the Tristan and Isolde legend. It was Messiaen’s first large orchestral piece and notable for inclusion of prominent solo parts for piano and ondes Martenot, an early electronic instrument known for its otherworldly sound,  with a soundscape wholly Messiaen’s own.
