Box Office Policies

Faculty, Staff and Students

  • faculty, staff and students of the Schulich School of Music, the students of The Art of Listening classes, students of Marianopolis College, as well as McGill Conservatory staff and students are entitled to 1 free ticket per concert, with the exception of the opera productions and the CBC/McGill Series.  There may be specific exceptions beyond what is listed here, at the discretion of the Dean of Music and at the discretion of the Department of Communications and Production.  
  • faculty, staff and students must show proof of valid ID.  No free ticket to any event can be issued without a valid ID.
  • tickets must be picked up without exception during regular Box Office business hours, i.e. Monday to Friday from 12:00 (noon) to 6:00 p.m.  No free tickets to any event can be issued outside of these hours.

Opera Productions

  • staff of the Voice Area (teachers, coaches, accompanists) are entitled to 1 free ticket per cast per production for the performance of their choice
  • staff who have students using the opera production for a required exam are entitled to 1 free ticket per night
  • voice students are entitled to 1 free ticket per cast per production for the performance of their choice
  • other staff and students of the Schulich School of Music are entitled to 1 free ticket per production
  • this policy does not apply when any opera production is a collaboration with an outside arts organization.  These policies are determined on a case by case basis and will be clearly communicated by the Opera Department.

Tickets for Guests- ie comp tickets

  • conductors of the large ensembles (symphony orchestra, wind symphony, baroque orchestra, contemporary music ensemble, jazz orchestras, choirs, opera) are entitled to a maximum of 6 free tickets per concert for their guests; the list must be communicated by email to the Box Office no later than one (1) week before the event (boxoffice [dot] music [at] mcgill [dot] ca)
  • students soloists performing with a large ensemble are entitled to a maximum of 4 tickets, including their own.  The complete list must be communicated by email to the Box Office no later than one (1) week before the event (boxoffice [dot] music [at] mcgill [dot] ca).
  • student composers whose works are performed are entitled to a maximum of 4 tickets, including their own. The complete list must be communicated by email to the Box Office no later than one (1) week before the event (boxoffice [dot] music [at] mcgill [dot] ca).
  • each artist performing within the Schulich Professional Concert Series is entitled to 6 free tickets per concert. There is a maximum total of 18 free tickets per concert.  The one complete list must be communicated by email to the Box Office no later than one (1) week before the event (boxoffice [dot] music [at] mcgill [dot] ca).
