TABLA ENSEMBLE (MUEN 568 - 073) - 1 credit

* This ensemble is open to Non-Music students *

Directed by Shawn Mativetsky, the McGill Tabla Ensemble learns and performs traditional North Indian tabla compositions from the Benares baj (style).

Students learn tabla techniques, repertoire, and performance practices, with the goal of developing advanced rhythm and improvisation skills, as well as
an appreciation for North Indian classical music. Over the course of each semester, the group learns solo tabla repertoire, culminating in an Indian
classical tabla soli performance.
Those interested should register for both the Fall and Winter semesters, as we will build our repertoire over the course of the entire year.
