Information on this website will be updated as it becomes available.  Please check back periodically.  If a schedule or other information is not yet posted for an ensemble it is not available at this time.

Ensemble placement auditions are required for all students who wish to participate in ensembles for credit. If you are unsure as to whether you are eligible for/required to participate in an ensemble, it is recommended that you consult the course calendar (http://www.mcgill.ca/study/2014-2015/faculties/music) and contact your faculty advisor.

Schulich School of Music

Non-music students are welcome to audition for Large Ensembles the Schulich School of Music.  However, only Performance majors are guaranteed admission into these ensembles.  The MGSO, in particular, is a very desirable ensemble and admission is highly competitive.
The main challenge for non-music students who are admitted to a Large Ensemble is usually consistent attendance and participation.  The policy does not allow for absences or tardies for academic classes, so their schedule needs to be completely open during the rehearsal time for the ensemble.  The Absence Policy summary can be found here: https://www.mcgill.ca/music/current-students/undergraduate/all-students/ensembles/policies-absences
You may consider participating in the Beethoven Orchestra (which operates under the same Absence Policy but has fewer scheduled performances), or even the Faculty of Medicine's not for credit orchestra, I Medici di McGill (http://www.imedici.mcgill.ca/).

If you have any questions regarding ensemble auditions, placement, or participation, don’t hesitate to contact the Ensemble Resource Manager.

For all academic inquiries or questions about your program requirements, please contact your faculty advisor.
