Kristin Franseen: Winner of Schulich's International Grant Competition
Congratulations to Kristin Franseen, a current doctoral candidate in musicology, who was awarded $10,000 in the International Grant Writing Competition for her grant application “Ghosts in the Archive: The Queer Knowledge and Public Musicology of Vernon Lee, Rosa Newmarch, and Edward Prime-Stevenson.” Kristin also won second place in the
Eleanor Stubley Recording Prize 2017-18
Through a unanimous agreement, the winner of this year’s Eleanor Stubley Recording Prize is Sarah Rossy (BMus ’17, MMus ’19) who will work together with Jennifer Nulsen (MMus ’18) on the project “Jazz in the Balance: Exploring Music Making and Creation in Gender and Genre-Balanced Teams and Environments.”
Matthew Ricketts to compose a new opera for the OSM’s 85 season opening
To open the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal’s 85th season, composer Matthew Ricketts (BMus ’09) has been commissioned to write a new chamber opera. Titled “Chaakapesh, The Trickster’s Quest,” this work showcases two singers, narrator, and orchestra, in three scenes.
