It goes without saying that following the tragic disaster of July 6, 2013, residents of Lac Mégantic need all the support that can be provided to them, and times of tragedy, music can be a tremendous comfort. 24 year old violinist Yolanda Bruno was named the 2013 Grand Prize Winner at the Standard Life OSM Competition this past weekend. Her prize includes a performance with the OSM under the direction of Edward Gardner on December 11, at the Maison symphonique, recitals and performances across Canada and South America, as well as broadcasts and recordings at the Radio-Canada studios and residencies at the Banff and Orford Arts Centers.
Schulich student Emily Belvedere was awarded a prize for the best performance of a Canadian work for harp.
