Undergraduate Programs

The MSE team teaching model is unusual in that it involves a sustained dialogue among 3 instructors representing a range of disciplines and perspectives throughout each of the seven MSE core courses. MSE requires each faculty to be present and engaged throughout the course. This format of classroom instruction assures that undergraduate students quickly recognize the multiple perspectives that surround each topic under discussion. It helps the students to see both conceptual and real‐world connections, and the intangibles of culture and philosophy that underlie disciplinary approaches. The students witness the process of interdisciplinary dialogue, discussion and debate. It empowers them as they realize that even the “experts” are learning from one another. It also helps students to see linkages among courses, and it stimulates active learning as the discussion and debate among instructors encourages students to share their ideas and questions.

The School also offers a Minor in Environment and a Diploma in Environment.

The Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Science, located on McGill's downtown campus in the heart of Montreal, Quebec; the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, is located on McGill's pastoral Macdonald Campus, 35 kilometres west of Montreal.
