The McGill Middle East Program Fellowship in Civil Society and Peace Building was inaugurated in 1997 in order to provide Palestinians, Israelis and Jordanians, with advanced training in the RBCP model, in community organizing and movement building. Much of this learning is inspired by traditions of the civil rights movement, the environmental movement, and the struggle to bring women, the aged and people with disabilities into the mainstream of community life.
Upon completion of their degree, these Fellows - who now number 53 - return to their home communities and work in or develop centers, together with the people they serve. Our Fellows, learning with and from each other, are building the foundation for a shared rights-based culture.
All alumni have returned to become leaders in their communities—innovating pioneering methods to improve civil society and reduce poverty.
The program requires that the Fellows continue to work in their respective countries for not less than four years following completion of the program—and most often to work in the centers themselves. At the links, meet the alumni of MMEP's Fellowship program.
