The Charles R. Bronfman and Alex K. Paterson Top-Up Awards

Established in honour of Charles R. Bronfman and Alex K. Paterson, co-chairs of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada's Board of Trustees from 1994 to 2008, these awards, valued at $5,000 each and once renewable, are awarded to doctoral students whose research focuses on some aspect of Canada. Recipients will be given shared office space at the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada and will be expected to participate in the events and activities of the MISC.
Departments are invited to recommend outstanding applicants whose name would be entered into the competition. Applicants must complete an application form and submit a letter of recommendation, a current curriculum vitae and a brief outline of their research. Past award recipients may reapply with the same documents,however, they must submit a progress report in place of their research proposal.
H. Anthony Hampson Awards

Established by family and friends in memory of H. Anthony Hampson (B.A. 1951) who was a leader of McGill capital campaigns and the first President of the Canadian Development Corporation. The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada will be awarding two H. Anthony Hampson Award, valued at $2,500, to a final year Ph.D. student whose research focuses on some aspect of Canadian Studies and who is actively engaged in writing his/her thesis.
Joseph and Sandra Rotman Prize

The Joseph and Sandra Rotman Prize for Student Excellence in Public Policy Innovation, valued at $400 was established in 2003 by Heather Munroe-Blum, Leonard Solomon Blum and by McGill University, in honour of Joseph and Sandra Rotman. It is awarded by the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada to a graduate student in the Faculty of Arts whose Master's or Doctoral thesis is judged to have made a distinctive contribution to the understanding or conduct of public policy in Canada.
The Warren Fellowship
Deadline: April 16, 2012
Thanks to the generosity of Roger Warren, each year a fellowship for $20,000 is offered to a deserving Aboriginal student seeking admission to a Master's or a Doctoral program at McGill University. The applicant's research must focus on some aspect of the study of Canada. Based on progress reports and participation in the activities of the Institute, the award may be twice renewed.
