The First Information Bulletin of the 16th MIE Conference: Conference Progress

Montreal, July 11, 2010,

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Greetings from Sunny and Pleasant Montreal!

Re: Conference Progress.

I hope that you have had excellent summer holidays so far. Montreal has been mainly sunny and very pleasant, with some occasional rains from time-to-time. I hope that it further extends to early August.

Following my note to you before June 30th, I am writing to update you on the progress of the 16th McGill International Entrepreneurship (MIE) Conference, August 1 to 5, 2013, Montreal and discuss four topics.

1. Accepted Papers. This writing follows my earlier note in late June on the acceptance of your proposed paper presentation at the conference. Yes, indeed, you need to finish the writing or revising your paper and send us the completed draft very soon. I know from experience, this is the difficult part of research and publication process. Please send your completed summaries and full papers to 2013mie.conference [at] mcgill.ca by, or before, July 20th, 2013, 2010!

2. The File Name of Your Paper. In naming your three-page summary’s and paper’s files before sending it to us, please include the last name of the Corresponding Author, a few key words of the Title and the last Revision Date in their file name (e.g., the file name of my paper for the conference is: Etemad-TLC-Life Cycle of INVs-10July2013.doc). Please avoid sending us files with file names such “the McGill Conference” as there will be many others with almost identical file names!

3. Conference Overview. On the conference front and very briefly, the conference is shaping up very well with three related parts. The one-day professional interactive seminars aim to establish an effective dialogue among the invited international entrepreneurs and scholars attending the conference on Friday, August 2nd. These seminars are designed to engage you in active discussions with accomplished international entrepreneurs and stimulate your thoughts.

Our traditional two-day scholarly presentations and discussions on Saturday and Sunday, August 3rd and 4th, will have a very rich collection of scholarly papers. We have accepted about than 50 extended abstracts (or completed papers) from more than 70 submissions from more than 10 countries, including Finland, France, Iran, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden UAE , UK and USA, to name a few.

Sponsored by a strategic grant by the Social Sciences and Humanity Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) in support of IE knowledge Cluster, commonly known as IE-Scholars Community (please see www.ie-scholars.net), we will be offering the third MIE Doctoral Colloquium on Thursday and Friday, August 1st and 2nd, which provide doctoral candidates with two three-hour seminars on Thursday, August 1st and eight to 10 Round Table discussions with accomplished scholars on Friday, August 2nd. This Colloquium is designed to introduce more than the 20 competitively-accepted Doctoral Candidates to IE scholarship and research.

Combined, these related parts hold the promise of providing for an exciting conference and making a significant contribution to all of us.

4. Hotel Accommodations in Montreal. I hope that you have already made your hotel accommodations. A few large events will be coinciding with our conference. If you have not and face difficulty in so doing, PLEASE let us know very quickly. We will try to help.

As our conference web-site is undergoing re-construction, I will write directly regarding further conference developments from-time-to-time to update you and as needs arise. We will try to post them quickly under the Navigational Button entitled “Information Bulletins”. Please visit the conference website frequently.

Finally, I hope that this note finds you very well.

Kind Regards,
Hamid Etemad

P.S.: Please copy your co-authors of the above information – Thank You.
