Dr. Richard Montoro
Assistant Dean, Resident Professional Affairs

Dr. Montoro did both his medical school and his psychiatry residency at McGill University, and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry.  He co-founded the McGill University Sexual Identity Centre in 1999.  This earned him the Innovation of the Year Award from the Association des médecins psychiatres du Québec, and in 2006 the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from AMI-Québec for his fervent advocacy of mental health in a harassment-free, non-discriminatory society.  His expertise in this area has led him to teach at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, at McGill University and Université de Montréal, as well as in Continuing Professional Development activities for practicing physicians.  These same values are mirrored in his engagement towards the medical community, which has led him to a position on the Board of the Fédération des médecins specialists du Québec, as well his current position as Assistant Dean.
