The Faculty Development Office works with many different teams at McGill. The following are examples of some of our partnerships:
Centre for Medical Education
The McGill Centre for Medical Education strives to promote excellence and scholarship across the continuum of health professions education. More specifically, the Centre for Medical Education aims to serve as a resource for curriculum development and innovation; stimulate interest in educational research and development; advance the field of health professional education through scholarship; and ensure that research informs educational practice.
Continuing Medical Education
The mission of the Center for Continuing Medical Education (CME) at McGill is to provide life-long CME for physicians and other health-care workers. McGill CME offers web-based content, courses and conferences to help physicians remain up-to-date. As well, CME assists physicians in arranging individual learning activities (preceptorships) to address specific learning needs.
McGill Medical Simulation Centre
The Centre - the largest and most important facility of its kind in Canada - combines training techniques from high-risk professions in aviation and emergency response with the latest medical simulation technologies. Fully intergrated into McGill's professional programs, the Centre provides the next generation of doctors, nurses and physiotherapists with hands-on training in difficult and potentially dangerous procedures without risk to patients.
Office of Curriculum Development & Physicianship Program
The Office of Curriculum Development and the Physicianship Program is responsible for the design, implementation and outcomes of the new Physicianship program in the undergraduate medical curriculum at McGill University. Physicianship refers to the two roles of the physician - that of the healer and professional.
RUIS McGill
RUIS (Réseau Universitaire Intégré de Santé) McGill has the responsibility to coordinate tertiary health care services, teaching and research to its affiliated regions, which include central and western Montreal, the western part of the Montérégie, Outaouais, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Cree territories, James Bay and Nunavik. These territories represent a population of 1.7 million. This service is provided through the Faculty of Medicine at McGill and McGill's associated teaching hospitals.
Teaching and Learning Services
Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) promotes and supports the ongoing development and enhancement of teaching and learning at McGill University. The TLS team collaborates with professors, departments, faculties and fellow teaching support units to create adaptable and innovative learning environments in which outstanding teaching is recognized and rewarded.
