As a leading medical school in a wonderfully diverse and cosmopolitan setting, McGill has deep roots in its community. Community is a hard to define concept, but for McGill, this could equally encompass the city of Montréal through its commitment to serving local vulnerable populations, the province and nation through its commitment to excellence in training, and indeed, the world through the high quality biomedical research undertaken here. We welcome students not only from Canada but also from the United States and from countries around the world.
In addition to the M.D.,C.M. degree, we offer joint programs leading to combined MD&MBA and MD&PhD degrees. We also offer to Quebec Cegep students a preparatory program for medical studies, the "Med-P". Our curriculum provides an integrated, system-oriented, multidisciplinary approach to learning and the Faculty supports a collegial and exciting learning environment for its students. Our new Physicianship program is one of the most innovative of its kind in the world, and aims to provide students with an excellent grounding in the humanistic skills required in medicine, with explicit linkages drawn between the ‘science’ and ‘art’ of medicine. We aim to have graduates that are regarded highly wherever they go, as Scientists and Humanists, in the best tradition of our most illustrious alumnus, Sir William Osler.
Some of our students decided to share their thoughts with us and wanted to tell you about living in Montréal. I encourage you to get to know something about the hearts and minds that make up McGill's Faculty of Medicine. McGill is a world class university that happens to be located in a world class city.
We invite you to explore the possibilities of medical studies at McGill, and wish you every success in your endeavours!
