Dr. Mohamed Idwan Ganie, S.H.
Dr. Ganie is a lawyer and lecturer in law based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Born on May 23, 1955 in Amsterdam, Holland, Dr. Ganie graduated from the Faculty of Law of, University of Indonesia (S.H.) in 1977 and obtained his Doctorate from University of Hamburg, Hamburg - West Germany in 1983. Among other spheres Dr. Ganie specializes in maritime and shipping law, marine insurance and secured transactions including vessel financing. Speaker in various seminars on Foreign Investment, Lease Financing, Shipping Law, Mining Law and other topics, Dr. Ganie has published several books and newspaper articles in Indonesia and abroad. Dr. Ganie is also a lecturer at the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law, and teaches an Advocate Course of Association of Indonesian Advocates (PERADIN) (since 1984). Dr. Ganie is Chairman of the Drafting Team of the National Maritime Law Code (navigation Section); Chairman of Association of Indonesian Anti-Trust Lawyers (Perkumpulan Konsultan Hukum Persaingan Usaha); member of Indonesia Bar Association (IKADIN); member of Regional Panel of Arbitrators of Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”), and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. Founding Partner of Law Firm Lubis Ganie Surowidjojo, Dr. Ganie speaks Indonesian, German, English, Dutch, and Latin.

Karen Mills is a lawyer, international legal advisor to and one of the founders of KarimSyah Law Firm in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she has practiced law for over 25 years. Karen graduated from New York University School of Law in l968 (J.D.) and is a Member of the Bar of the State of New York since l969. She was an associate with Haight Gardner Poor and Havens in New York before moving to Indonesia. Karen specializes in international arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, oil, gas and energy law, financing, and insurance and has lectured at the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law andTarumanagara University Faculty of Law in Indonesia. She has also been teacher, Chairman, and speaker at various seminars and courses on investment, arbitration, ADR, energy, financing, oil and gas, mining, e-commerce and tax in Jakarta, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and U.S. Karen acts as an arbitrator at various institutional and ad hoc arbitrations in China, Singapore, Philippines, New Zealand, Korea, Malaysia and United States, and a mediator in Jakarta, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Karen is a member of a number of international organizations including Honorary Member (First ever) of Indonesian Bar Association (Asociasi Adovkat Indonesia) and the ICC (Internaitonal Chamber of Commerce) Commission on Arbitration, Founder & Co-Chair of Indonesia Chapter, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Fellow of Hong Kong & Singapore Institutes of Arbitrators, and member of the Board of Directors of Arbitralwomen. Karen has also written and published more than 120 articles on arbitration, oil and gas and other fields of international and business law.
