Lizabeth Burrell

Lizabeth Burrell is a maritime lawyer based in New York, the United States. Educated at the Columbia University, (M. Phil., 1976) and the New York University School of Law (J.D., 1980), Liz has thirty years of experience as a lawyer in New York City with expertise in maritime litigation and arbitration and commercial maritime matters. She also has experience in dispute resolution involving the Uniform Commercial Code, the Federal Arbitration Act, and the Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards. Lizabeth is the first woman to hold the position of President of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, with which she has been involved since 1981 in various capacities. Liz is admitted to practice in the state of New York and before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Liz is the Audit Committee Chair and a Titulary Member of the Comité Maritime International, as well as the Associate Editor of American Maritime Cases and Benedict’s Maritime Law Bulletin.
