The Institute of Parasitology invites you to a special seminar by Dr. Fernando Lopes, University of Calgary, Alberta. Everyone is welcome to attend.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Dr. Lopes received his PhD in Cell Biology for research on the role of reactive oxygen species in the resolution of inflammation using models of rheumatoid arthritis. He came to Canada after finishing this degree to work in the McKay Lab. there, he worked on three main projects: (1), helminth therapy for inflammatory diseases (principally colitis); (2) understanding the role of mitochondria in the modulation of epithelial-bacterial interaction; and, (3) defining how Hymenolepis diminuta-derived molecules regulate the phenotype and function of myeloid cells.
