Now well into its second decade, Macdonald's ever-popular Food for Thought Lecture Series is gearing up for another series of fascinating and thought-provoking lectures.

The series kicks off on Tuesday, September 9 with a lecture by Professors Jim Fyles (Natutal Resource Sciences) and George McCourt (McGill School of Environment) who will address the issue of Global Carbon, this year's series' theme.

The objective of the Research Ethics and Conduct Seminar is to educate graduate students on the different policies and guidelines that touch on scientific research dealing with humans, animals, plants and the environment; and laboratory safety when dealing with biohazardous materials.

The work presented in this thesis is the step by step approach taken in the effort of developing radio frequency (RF) heating technology for the extraction of apple peel phenolic compounds. The work that has been carried out covers the design of an extraction system, the establishment of the initial extraction conditions, characterization of suitable solvents for the extraction system, process optimization and justification study.
