Alumni Services for Students

There are many unique opportunities for our students provided by the Macdonald Advancement Team throughout the academic year. Our office sponsors programs, events, seminars/workshops and leadership opportunities that take part outside the classroom which will be of benefit to you the student before becoming alumni yourself.

The McGill Alumni Association also has programming for our students, so to find out more please visit the Alumni Online Community.

Freshman Seminar:

In conjunction with the Freshman Program Student Success Series, we organize seminars to enhance your student experience, or life skills, such as – Leadership Development, Cooking Class/Demonstrations, Campus Excursions, Student Engagement Opportunities.

Mentoring Programming:

Collaborating with CaPS (Career and Placement Services) we plan round table discussions with alumni in your field. This unique event will allow you that face to face opportunity to speak with young and mid-career alumni about their job experiences after graduation.

SOAR (Student Organization for Alumni Relations):

If you are interested in joining this dynamic group, you will represent the student body for the Alumni Relations component of the Advancement Team. As a member of SOAR, you will act as ambassadors for the Faculty, participate in special targeted events, such as Orientation, Homecoming, Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day, and sit on the Student Advisory Council to the Dean and promote the Macdonald/McGill spirit or pride. SOAR’s slogan is – Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow.

Grad Fair:

The Macdonald Advancement Team hosts a special event for our graduating students. Part of the fair will include having a professional photographer on hand to take a “head shot” for your LinkedIn profile and you then become a part of our extended network. You will also learn about what services are available to you as an alum, what it means to be part of a larger group of proud alumni (over 200,000 worldwide) and how you can give back.
