Message from the Dean
I am very pleased to welcome you to our beautiful Macdonald Campus and the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of McGill University. Macdonald is a campus with a very rich history and legacy. Thanks to the generosity of Sir William Macdonald, the Faculty offers outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs in agricultural sciences and applied biosciences, food and nutritional sciences, environmental sciences, and bioresource engineering.
Macdonald is a very diverse and international campus. Students are taught by outstanding professors who are among the top in their fields. The campus has excellent facilities for teaching and research, including well-equipped laboratories, experimental farm and field facilities, and the Morgan Arboretum. The campus is surrounded by the Ottawa and St. Lawrence rivers. When you couple exciting academic programs with excellent staff and facilities, our students have the potential to be world leaders upon graduation.
The Faculty is at the forefront of advances in the basic sciences and engineering associated with the food supply, human health and nutrition, and the environment, and it is a world leader in plant and animal biotechnology, bioproducts and bioprocessing, bioinformatics, food safety and food quality, environmental engineering, water management, soils, parasitology, microbiology and ecosystem science and management.
The Macdonald Campus is an exciting place to live, work, study, learn and discover. Its very intimate collegial and residential setting allows for strong interaction between staff and students, and for enriched student activity and participation in extra-curricular activities. A hallmark of our undergraduate and graduate programs is the ability to provide hands-on learning experiences in the field and labs, and the smaller class sizes.
I invite you to visit the Faculty, and to be a part of the excitement offered by McGill University at Macdonald.
