The Emerging Field Of Lymphedema Research
Much basic work needs to be done to document the extent of cancer treatment related problems and lymphedema in particular. We also need to do research on ways of preventing these problems and on how best to treat them when they appear. The results of this research will provide information that will help improve rehabilitation services to those suffering from these conditions.
Research Team
The McGill Lymphedema Research Program has a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and PhD researchers from the McGill Department of Oncology (Divisions of Palliative Care, Surgical Oncology and Radiation Oncology), and the McGill School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, as well as lymphedema therapists. The coordinator of the Program is Dr. Anna Towers.
In addition, there is a team of Canadian researchers with an interest in Lymphedema, who meet regularly to plan joint research protocols.
