      Islamic Studies Library

      • 10 public computers are available in the eZone, located near the Information Desk
      • 4 public computers are available in the fountain room, near the entrance to the Octagon Room
      • 1 public computer (Catalogue access only) is located near the Auto-Loan machine
      • 1 public computer (Catalogue only) is located on the second floor, in the back section

      Life Sciences Library

      • 60+ public computers are available on both the 3rd and 4th floors.
      • All computers are available for use by all library patrons, including guests.
      • LSL50-53 (third floor) and 5858 (fourth floor) are stand-up computers and are used for short and quick consults
      • LSL-OSD is for users with special or adaptive needs
      • LSL20 (third floor) and 4339 (fourth floor) are for consulting the library catalogue
      • LSL43-44 are located in the 3rd floor hallway just outside the Library entrance. These machines are connected to the main Library network and are ideal for quick searching and printing before the Library opens.

      Marvin Duchow Music Library

      Location of computer workstations

      • 58 public computer workstations are distributed across the 3 floors of the Library.
      • All computer stations in the Library are equipped with headphones to facilitate private listening to and viewing of recorded performances.  

      Laptop computers (borrowed from the 4th-floor desk)

      • IBM ThinkPad Tseries, IBM ThinkPads, IBM X30s, and MacBooks are available. For more details, consult the central Computers and software page.
      • The Music Library also loans 9 MacBook Pros and 2 Lenovo T500 Thinkpad PC laptops with specialized music software.

      Music Student Computer Room (MSCR)

      The Music Student Computer Room, located on the 5th floor, provides a highly specialized environment for music and multimedia authoring.

      Student navigators are available for on-site consultation during the academic year, every day from 12:00 - 17:00. Variations in this schedule are posted in the MSCR.

      • 12 workstations with piano keyboards - 7 Power Macs (OS 10.6) and 5 PCs (with Windows 7) - are available in the MSCR.

      • Computers are available in the Dobrin-Steinberg Computer Classroom, a teaching and training facility for legal methodology and information literacy programs
      • The room can be booked by members of the University for teaching purposes
      • When not in use as a classroom it can be used by students as a computer lab

      Guest access

      Guests to the library may sign into all workstations, except the workstations in the two eZones (Room 313 and Room 413).

      Borrowing laptops

      There are several laptop hardware and software configurations. Specialized software such as EndNote, SPSS and MatLab are installed on certain laptops. Do not hesitate to ask if you have specific requirements. Laptops are available to McGill students, faculty and staff.
