Borrowing e-audiobooks
McGill Library clients can borrow downloadable e-audiobooks from the Library. To determine which formats are compatible with your portable device, visit the Device Resource Center.
1. McGill Overdrive
DRM protected WMA and MP3 audiobooks
Authentication
You need your McGill ID barcode and PIN number in order to log in and be able to borrow from McGill OverDrive.
Software Requirements
- Windows users:
- OverDrive Media console and Windows Media Player - for e-audiobooks in MP3 and WMA format.
For transfer to Apple devices iTunes required as well.
- Mac users:
- OverDrive Media console and iTunes – for e-audiobooks in MP3 format.
* WMA audiobooks are not compatible with Mac computers.
Lending period
7 or 14 days (user defined)
2. EBSCOhost
DRM protected MP3 or WMA audiobooks.
Authentication
- Off campus VPN connection or EZ Proxy login.
- Free EBSCOhost account.
Software requirements
- All users:
- Download Manager application from EBSCOhost - the user will be prompted to install during the check-out process. Detailed instructions - here
- Windows users:
- Windows Media Player or iTunes - for e-audiobooks in MP3 and WMA format.
For transfer to Apple devices iTunes is required.
- Mac users:
- iTunes – for e-audiobooks in MP3 format.
* WMA audiobooks are not compatible with Mac computers and Apple devices.
Lending period
7 or 14 days (user defined)
