Collections: Relocation Update
The Life Sciences collection is merging into the Schulich Library of Science and Engineering and the Main Education collection is moving to the 2nd floor of the McLennan Library Building. The collection moves are progressing well and we expect that the collection relocations will be completed in the upcoming weeks.
We will keep you updated on a regular basis on our progress.
If you have ANY questions or need a book right away, please contact any Librarian and they will work with you on sourcing the title.

Curriculum Resources Centre Update and Consultation Process
Dear Faculty and students,
Over the summer, the McGill Library underwent some changes at both the Education and Humanities and Social Sciences branches. This notice is intended to update you on the changes related to the Education collection, the services available, and the upcoming consultation process. A dedicated page providing more detailed and up-to-date information can be found at the following URL:
New! McGill Library's Chapbook Collection
The Rare Books and Special Collections Library at McGill University contains over nine hundred British and American chapbooks published in the 18th and 19th centuries. Through a generous donation from the Harold Crabtree Foundation, digital facsimiles have been prepared and a virtual collection created.
The McGill Library’s Chapbook Collection is organized by subject categories which can be browsed. The entire work can be read in PDF format or online, using the page turning functionality of the Internet Archive.
Renovations Update
Light retro fit motion sensors are currently being installed on the main floor of the McLennan Library Building in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library. All other floors of the McLennan Library Building have been completed. Once work has been completed on the main floor of McLennan, the light retro fit motion sensors will be installed in the Redpath Library Building.
Orientation activies happening at the McGill Library!

Electrical shutdown of certain areas of McLennan Library Building on Sunday, July 28, 2013. Main floor of McLennan & Redpath Library Building remains open for study 8am to 8pm
There will be an electrical shutdown in the McLennan Library Building on Sunday July 28,2013 from 8am to 8pm. McLennan floors 2-6 will be closed, the book stacks and offices will not be accessible.
The Redpath Library Building and the main floor of the McLennan Library Building and the will be open for study from 8am to 8pm.

Laptop Lending Program & Laptop Bursary Fund Update
The lending of electronic equipment including laptops will end on August 16 except in cases where our students need the equipment to run unique software, as is the case at the Marvin Duchow Music Library. The service will continue in the Music Library. Frequently asked questions regarding this change are below.

McGill Library's Colombo Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service Unavailable June 14 to 16 at 9 a.m.
The Colombo Interlibrary Loan (ILL) database system will be unavailable to McGill users and library personnel from Friday June 14 to Sunday June 16 at 9:00 AM due to a technical upgrade to a new version of the software.
It is expected that access to the Colombo ILL service will resume at 9:00 AM on Sunday June 16, 2013.
The McGill Library regrets any inconvenience this may cause.
Changes to affiliated hospital access to McGill e-resources, starting July 1, 2013
Changes as of July 1, 2013
As of July 1st, 2013, access to McGill electronic databases, e-journals and other e-resources is changing at McGill affiliated hospital sites in order to comply with the McGill University Library’s licensing agreements. Currently, all persons working in McGill affiliated teaching hospitals are able to access the McGill Library’s electronic resources. However, due to the very strict licensing agreements, only those persons affiliated with the University are, in fact, authorized to use these services.

Dr. Colleen Cook, Trenholme Dean of Libraries, is delighted to announce that Maya Kucij and Lucy Frenette are the recipients of the 2013 Library Excellence Awards. The Library Excellence Awards officially honour the extraordinary service, important efforts and achievements of staff members. “These awards are near and dear to my heart because candidates for the award are brought forward by colleagues,” says Cook. “Every year the list of nominees is outstanding and this year was no exception.

McLennan main floor electrical shutdown, Sunday, May 12, 2013
There will be an electrical shutdown in the McLennan Library Building Main Floor on Sunday May 12,2013 from 6am to 8pm, in order to complete a panel upgrade to the electrical framework. The shutdown will involve the area behind the elevators in the McLennan Lobby only. Access to computers will be available in the Cyberthèque. Self-check machines and catalogues will be accessible throughout the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex.
