Collections: Relocation Update

The Life Sciences collection is merging into the Schulich Library of Science and Engineering and the Main Education collection is moving to the 2nd floor of the McLennan Library Building. The collection moves are progressing well and we expect that the collection relocations will be completed in the upcoming weeks.
We will keep you updated on a regular basis on our progress.
If you have ANY questions or need a book right away, please contact any Librarian and they will work with you on sourcing the title.
Tuesday, October 1
Education/Humanities & Social Sciences Library
- Collection update:
- Materials from the Education Main Collection are arriving on a daily basis to their new location, the second floor of the Humanities & Social Sciences Library.
- We anticipate that all materials will be accessible in the Humanities & Social Sciences Library the week of October 7.
- Material that is not on the shelf from this collections is temporarily unavailable. Should you need any assistance locating an item or requesting an item through interlibrary loans, please contact staff at the Curriculum Resources Centre (514-398-5726, education [dot] library [at] mcgill [dot] ca).
- Microfilm has been relocated to another section on the second floor and to closed storage in McLennan. Please visit the service desk in McLennan for assistance.
- The following items from the Education Main Collection are available on the shelves of the Humanities and Social Sciences Library for individuals to borrow:
- Education books with call numbers A to HQ31 G696 2000.
- The Services Desk at the Curriculum Resources Centre is open. A Library Assistant will provide service (e.g. field general questions, assist in the circulation of reserve collection and inter branch loans, etc.) in the Life Sciences Library from 9am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm Monday through Friday, beginning September 3rd.
- Children's/YA Literature, Curriculum Resources, reserve materials and audio/visual collections are available at the Curriculum Resources Centre.
- Librarians will be scheduled to provide office hours/consultation to our Education users in the Education consultation area during these service hours. Librarians will also continue to provide individual consults and give instruction in a range of locations, to meet the needs of faculty and students.

Life Sciences/Schulich Library
- Collection update:
- The Schulich Science and Engineering circulating collection is available and Life Sciences material is arriving on a daily basis.
- We anticipate that all materials will be accessible in the Schulich Library by mid-October.
- Should you need any assistance locating an item or requesting an item through interlibrary loans, please contact staff at your branch.
- Extremely low use material is being shipped to our storage facility at the Currie Gym. It will be retrieved on an "on demand" basis beginning later in the term. Currie materials that are needed before then will be sourced through Interlibrary Loan.
- The following items from the Life Sciences main collection are available on the shelves of the Schulich Library for individuals to borrow:
- Life Sciences books with call numbers to the end of TN have been merged and shelved in the Schulich Library.
- Life Sciences journals are now located in the basement (1st floor) of Schulich.
- The Wendy Patrick Collection from Life Sciences is now accessible and located on the 2nd floor of Schulich.
- Librarians and Library Assistants have moved into new office spaces in the Schulich Library. Please visit http://www.mcgill.ca/library/branches/schulich/staff for the most current contact information for our Life Sciences and Schulich colleagues.
