The Dupes is a stark, beautifully photographed black and white film tracing the destinies of three Palestinian refugees brought together by dispossession, despair and hope for a better future.

Canadian Tri-Agencies (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR) introduce open access policy on publications arising from all awards granted after May 1, 2015

On February 27, 2015, Canada's three major research funding agencies – the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) – announced a new harmonized "Open Access Policy on Publications" that requires research publications supported by public funds to be made openly available for the benefit of the community at large.

Service outage with WorldCat Local and other OCLC services (RESOLVED)

OCLC is experiencing a generalised outage across many of its platforms including WorldCat Local, the link resolver, QuestionPoint, Colombo (interlibrary loan), EZProxy (off-campus proxy access).

We will update this page with addtional information as it becomes available.

Issue with off-campus users requesting items for pickup, delivery or scanning from WorldCat Local

Off-campus users are currently not able to use the Request button in WorldCat Local to request pickup, delivery, or scanning for items held by the McGill Library.

We are investigating the issue and will report back as the situation develops.

In the meantime, off-campus users can use the Classic Catalogue to look up and request these items.

Mathematica software now Free for Students

Mathematica, from Wolfram Research, is a powerful computational software used for mathematical modeling and data visualization.  McGill IT Services has been providing Mathematica to Faculty & Staff, and in computer labs across the University for the past few years.  Now it is also available to students via the McGill Software site (www.mcgill.ca/software).

Access to McGill Library e-resources to cease for all ineligible accounts as of February 16, 2015

As of Monday, February 16, 2015, access to McGill Library e-resources from off campus will end for all ineligible McGill affiliates. The Library's license agreements for electronic resources generally only cover off-campus access for current McGill students, faculty and staff.

In July 2013, in an effort to comply with licensing agreements for electronic content, the McGill Library began a process of analyzing McGill user and affiliated accounts to ensure that only eligible users were able to access the Library’s e-resources. This work has now been completed.
