Biographie

La professeure agrégée Alana Klein enseigne et étudie le droit de la santé, le droit pénal et les droits de la personne. Ses intérêts de recherche se centrent principalement sur les groupes et les individus marginalisés qui se retrouvent dans des systèmes décentralisés et privatisés, et sur le rôle que jouent les exigences en matière de reddition des comptes sur la gouvernance et la prise de décision.

Avant de joindre à la Faculté de droit de McGill, elle était analyste principale des politiques auprès du Réseau juridique canadien VIH/sida, où elle s’intéressait au HIV/sida dans le contexte de l’immigration, aux entraves jetées devant les programmes de réduction des préjudices pour les toxicomanes et les réformes juridiques du droit pour promouvoir les droits des femmes et des filles dans le contexte du HIV/sida en Afrique subsaharienne.

Alana Klein a enseigné le droit à l’école de droit de l’Université Columbia. Elle a fait un stage avec l’International Refugee Program de Human Rights First et un autre stage avec le Ministère palestinien de l’économie et du commerce. En 2002-2003, elle a été auxiliaire juridique pour madame la juge Louise Arbour de la Cour suprême du Canada. En 2006, elle a été nommée commissaire à la Commission ontarienne des droits de la personne.
