L'ambassade de Colombie au Canada et le consulat colombien à Montréal, en partenariat avec la Faculté de droit à l'Université McGill, organisent un panel qui discutera le processus de paix en Colombie.

[la suite en anglais]

On August 24, 2016, after 52-years of bloody armed conflict and four years of negotiations between the Colombian government and the FARC, the country’s largest leftist guerrilla groups, a peace agreement was finally reached. In the referendum held five weeks later, the Colombian people narrowly rejected the agreement.

The rejection of the Peace Deal raises many legal, international and cultural issues. What are the implications on transitional justice? Should the idea of amnesty be implicit in peace treaties? What does this mean for the future of Colombia? Will this result in a shift from armed conflict to a battle of political ideals?

Join us as we explore the various questions raised by the Colombian Peace Process!
